Binaytara Foundation Cancer Center Raises Funds for Patient Assistance Program

The Binaytara Foundation Cancer Center hosted a gala dinner on March 17, 2023, on the sidelines of the International Cancer Congress, and raised 396,001 Nepali Rupees for the patient assistance program. The funds will be used to address the financial challenges of patients receiving cancer care.

“The fund will help us provide subsidized care, including surgery and chemotherapy, for patients who are experiencing financial hardship. Many patients who need major surgeries forego treatment because of financial constraints, which is unfortunate. We hope to be able to serve more patients with the help of donor support.”

Hospital Administrator, Gamala Luitel

The Binaytara Foundation seeks to minimize disparities by improving access to cancer care. The majority of patients at the Binaytara Foundation Cancer Center receive financial assistance.

“The donors’ support will allow us to help more patients access cancer care without compromising the quality of care. We are thankful to our donors.” Dr. Binay Shah said.

The Binaytara Foundation Cancer Center is a cancer hospital in Janakpurdham, a city in southeast Nepal. It was established by the Binaytara Foundation in 2018 to meet the cancer care needs of more than six million residents of Madhesh Province (then province 2) who were forced to travel more than 8-hours by bus for cancer care at the nearest cancer hospital. The BTFCC provides cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and palliative care services.

The Binaytara Foundation is a global cancer non-profit dedicated to improving access to cancer care in the United States and abroad through education and innovative program models that break down barriers and advance best practices in hematology and oncology. Binaytara Foundation’s major projects include hematology and oncology conferences, and the establishment of a cancer hospital in Nepal.
